It's about thinking.

And with these two thought processes we limit and will probably eventually destroy ourselves. They don’t take much thought and they serve our immediate interests.

It’s their problem, it’s ruining their lives, it’s their pain or it’s their bad luck. Not Me.

It could happen next week, it might happen in a year, it could be the future and it could eventually obliterate us. But that’s later. Not Now.

We don’t stop to think that it could be us and that tomorrow will get here.

That’s too much thinking. I’m too busy. Don’t bring me down. That’s no fun.

And yet another mind bending study. This one suggesting  that eating chocolate may lead to depression or was it that people that are depressed may eat more chocolate. Earlier studies have been just as conclusive.

The amazing thing to me is that someone has actually researched this and equally or more so that someone probably paid for it. (I’ve got some reasearch ideas! Is there a special club where you can get grant money for this stuff?)

I’m going to take a wild guess here. People that are feeling depressed may turn to “happy foods” with the hopes of feeling better. And chocolate certainly is well placed in the “happy foods” group.

Here’s another thought and it’s really just pure guessing on my part: Some people who either were or were not depressed beforehand may over indulge in their “happy food”, thus making them fell depressed or even more depressed.

This is so silly, it’s depressing. Where’s my chocolate.

OK, everybody does some thinking. But is it really taking a moment to actually pause and think or is it the shoot-from-the-hip “I’m really busy right now” kind of thinking?

Yes, our lives are busy but who is in control (or out of control) when we’re too busy to think about it? And it’s not referring to the superficial thinking like what to wear, where to eat, or the biggie….. “What will they think?”

It’s more about do we ever stop and really think about what’s happening in Washington and in our own state governments? Not the petty partisan squabbles, but the big picture of what is or is not getting done or getting better??

Do we stop and think about what is happening to our world or are we content to not think about it at all or to accept whatever we’re told as being enough of “OK” so that we don’t have to think about it?

So about now, anyone that read this far may be thinking “Left wing tree hugger”.

That’s a label. That’s not thinking about what was said. Instead, it’s throwing a label on it so you don’t have to think.

Is it the underlying shifting of our culture that’s taking us down this path? Red team, blue team… don’t think, just go along with whatever the “team” says. Surely they must be right. Right? After all, you support the team don’t you?

Too busy, can’t stop, don’t think. Go team go!
